1100 employees across grades and functions in the cities and head office will be impacted

Bengaluru-based foodtech unicorn Swiggy has now announced that it is laying off around 1100 employees, as it looks to overcome the revenue impact from the coronavirus pandemic.
In an email written by Swiggy CEO Sriharsha Majety, employees were informed that the company would will let go of 1100 employees spanning across grades and functions in the various cities where it has offices, as well as its head office in Bengaluru over the next few days.
Majety said the HR team along with the line manager will have a one-on-one conversation with impacted employees. All other employees will receive appropriate communication from line managers regarding the continuity of their role with Swiggy.
For the laid-off employees, the company is offering at least three months of salary irrespective of their notice period or tenure. Further, for every year of working with Swiggy, the company will be offering an extra month of ex-gratia income in addition to their notice period pay.
